Stained Glass Irish Moss Seaweed Roundel.

£90.00
Limited Availability

This stained glass seaweed roundel, also known as a rondel, has been hand painted on a beautiful piece of mouth blown English antique glass made by Hartley Wood, an incredible glass manufacturer that is sadly no longer in existence. The traditional stained glass techniques used to create this piece have not changed since medieval times.

The designs for all my seaweed pieces are based on drawings I have made of seaweeds found on my local beach. This particular one is based on Irish Moss.

This stained glass roundel (also known as a rondel) is perfect displayed alone in a window, where light brings the painted glass to life, or grouped with other pieces from the collection for a striking botanical arrangement.

About Irish Moss Seaweed

Irish Moss (Chondrus crispus) has been used in traditional medicine for centuries. Historically, it has been associated with soothing respiratory ailments like coughs and sore throats, consumed in broths as a nutrient rich convalescence food and used topically to treat skin conditions and heal wounds. It is also beneficial for gut health and thyroid function.
